Big Brother Duties

One requirement of being a good big brother is trying things out first so you can say whether they are safe or not for your little brother.  Well, Spencer has taken this responsibility seriously and here are some photos to prove it.

Before we left the hospital Spencer had to make sure Oliver's bed was comfortable.  I didn't think he would fit, but he sure did.

Helping daddy mow the backyard so he could blow bubbles later on with his brother.

He loves playing with his tractors on our back deck.  Typically he sets one aside for his "baby".  Lately he's been calling Oliver "baby" even though he can say his name.  I don't care what he calls his little brother as long as he continues to love and include him.

It was a rough second night home from the hospital and some how all 4 of us ended up in our queen size bed.  When I woke up and noticed Spencer's leg wrapped around his brothers head I was a little scared.  I really hope Oliver didn't get beat up through the night, but most likely he did.

We let Spencer help us give Oliver his first bath.  Spencer kept asking to join Oliver in the small tub.  We knew they wouldn't fit together so we let Spencer try out the tub after Oliver got out.  He loved every second of his bath that night.

Oliver Casey Robles

As promised, here are more photos of our new little guy.

Oliver tested a little high on the bilirubin screening so he had to be under lights for a day.  They would put his sunglasses on and let him bath in the sunlight for 3 hours.  Then he would come to mom to feed.  What a life!  At least he's ready for suntanning at the beach this summer in Southern California.

I love the faces babies make when they are sleeping.  I would love to know what he was dreaming about.

Headed home from the hospital.  Unlike Spencer he had an outfit that fit him.  We still feel bad about Spencer's "going home" outfit.

Oliver with his big brother.  So far they have gotten along.  Spencer is all about making sure Oliver has a binkie in his mouth as well as a blanket over his head.  When he wakes up in the morning he asks where Oliver is and has to come say hi.  This is a good sign for the future.

The 3 of us leaving the hospital to the unknown.  After 4 days I was ready to go home, but a little nervous because they take so good care of you at the hospital.

Belly Photo shoot

We thought we better post our last belly shots before we have the Tacquito on Monday.  The below photos are our favorite from the shoot.

Easter Egg Decorating

To get ready for Easter we decorated eggs.  It started out as planned, but like usual, Spencer had his own plan in mind and it went in that direction instead.

Spencer listening patiently to momma's instructions

Now knowing what to do he is going to drop his first egg into a color.

This is where things shifted.  Notice the grin on his face with the tongue sticking out.

Deciding which egg to take out and throw or crack.  Sorry no pictures to go along with it because it happened so fast.

Oops!  Did I spill?  Oh well, I'll just carry on with what I was doing.

Trying so hard to get the egg with the scooper.

Since he didn't get the egg he decided it would be a good idea to taste it.  Surprisingly enough he didn't even mind the vinegar taste.  Weird kid!

A family photo just before cleaning up.  We hope to have better luck next year!

Egg Hunt #1

These are photos from the first out of four Easter egg hunts we did within 2 days.  It was early in the morning and it was freezing outside.  We had to wait about 20 minutes and Spencer wasn't happy about it.  He saw all the eggs and wanted to get them.  Once the hunt started he ended up picking up more candy than he did actual eggs so we didn't get any coupons - next year!
