Hangin' out in Montana

Below are some random photos from our Montana trip.
Enjoy!

Oliver happy as can be during his tummy time.  In general he is a happy go-lucky boy who lights up when his mommy or brother comes into the room.  It's hard to tell who can make him laugh more.

It was extremely hot while we were in Montana so most of our days were spent outside by the pool.  Even Oliver got into the pool and liked the cold water.

It may not look like it in this picture, but Oliver really did like the water.

 Spencer and Casey

Grandad is known for his fun 4-wheeler rides so we were surprised when Spencer only wanted his daddy to take him.  I guess it doesn't matter who takes you cause you'll still have fun.

Lucky for us Spencer has a good shaped head otherwise this mistake would have been deeply regretted.  It started out as a simple trim, but quickly got out of hand.  Casey nicked the front of his head with the razor so we took him to a professional to fix it.  Unfortunately for us the professional made it choppy and uneven so we decided to just buzz it all off.  Poor boy had to get 3 haircuts in one day.

Fishin' in Montana

Grandad, Grandma, and Uncle Josh took Spencer and his cousins fishing one night while we were in Montana.  Oliver wasn't old enough so he attended a wedding with mommy and daddy.  We were told that Spencer had a blast but didn't like to touch the fish or get too close.  It's not like his personality to not want to touch something.  I guess we all have "one" thing that scares us and his is fish.

Happy Birthday to.......

........Casey and Oma!  They have the same birthday so this year they had to share their birthday dinner and cake.  Luckily they like the same things so no one got hurt.

I made fruit pizza instead of cake.  None of us are really cake lovers.

Like the dollar store decorations?  The best find was the singing candle.

The birthday girl and boy:)

Independence Day

We had a low-key 4th of July this year.  We watched a parade, played at the park, went swimming, ate wontons, and lighted fireworks.

Spencer started out with one sparkler but then......

 got brave and had two!

Oma's House

While we were at Oma's house we didn't do anything new or spectacular.  We did the things Spencer loves most - playing baseball, swimming at the pool, riding his bike, and building towns for his trucks.  We also made sure to eat yummy food everyday (wontons and fried rice, BBQ ribs, cabbage rolls, and homemade blizzards).  Ryanne's mom is an amazing cook so we really look forward to her food:)

Spencer getting ready to "hit the ball"

 Homerun!!!!!!!!

Spencer helping Oma make blizzards.  He was thrilled to have the job of banging the candy.

All of us minus Oliver eating our blizzards.

Spencer loved his blizzard so much that we ended up having them two nights in a row.  His first night he had Oreo cookie and the second night he Butterfinger.

Spencer and Oma in the hub of "truck town".  They made a fire station, library, bank, hospital, and police station.  Spencer was sad when we had to take it down.

To Oma's house we go......

We made a few stops along our 12 hour drive to Oma's house in Post Falls, Idaho.  Spencer and Casey would go exploring while Oliver and Ryanne would stay in the car to feed.

Spencer loves Thomas the Train.  So whenever we see train tracks he insists on waiting for Thomas to pass by so he can wave hi.  This time Thomas didn't come so he played on the tracks instead.  I know it's not very safe but Casey was right next to him.

We couldn't resist taking a picture of Spencer eating in the car.  Look really close at his face and you can see a white film around his mouth.  This was from a candy necklace he was wearing and eating.

Spartan Race 2012

Casey and his father-in-law, Scott, thought it would be a fun challenge to compete in the Spartan Race so they signed up together.  You're probably wondering "what does it take to become a Spartan?".   Well, you have to run 13 miles as well as successfully complete 25 obstacles along the course.  For any obstacle you could not complete you were required to do 30 burpies instead.  Both of them did really well considering it was their first time and not really knowing what they were getting themselves into.

Pre-race photo

Casey cruising along on the course

Casey shooting a gun - scary!  He hasn't had many experiences with guns so it wasn't a shock when he missed the target and had to do burpies.

Casey not happy about having to do burpies.  The next obstacle was throwing a spear into a bail of hay.  His went in but popped out so he had to do more burpies.  These were the only two obstacles that he had to do burpies on:(

Casey finishing the race and checking his time even though he was doing it "just for fun".

Casey finished 9th overall and 2nd in his age group.  He's a freak of nature!

Scott climbing over an obstacle which was half way through the course.

Scott looking strong

Scott still running at a steady pace.  He didn't have as much time to train for this race so we thought he might walk towards the end, but he didn't.

Ready to be done but still moving along at a good pace

Scott taking his shot.  He hit the target so no burpies for him:)

He wasn't as fortunate at the next obstacle.  His spear didn't stay in the hay either - 30 burpies for him!

Scott almost to the end

Up, up, up, and over the large wall

All muddy and done with the race.

Scott finished in 3:04 which put him 10th in his age group.

Both of them had such a great time that they signed up for next year's race - no joke!
